Recommendations for follow-up of patients with kidney diseases after acute COVID-19
Kidneys are frequently affected by a novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Infected individuals may develop acute kidney damage or an acutisation of the pre-existing chronic kidney disease. Patients with end-stage kidney failure are vulnerable due to increased risk of infection, decreased response to vaccination, and increased morbidity and mortality, compared to the general population. With the ongoing pandemics, one may expect an increasing number of patients with long-term consequences of the acute COVID-19 infection. We present our recommendation for follow-up of the patients with kidney diseases after the acute COVID-19.
