Abstract:

Metabolic bone disease is one of the most frequent complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Bone disease is only one of a broad spectrum of imbalances that manifests itself in pathological changes in the bones and very frequently in pathological changes outside of the skeleton. Since the kidney is perhaps the most important organ for regulating mineral metabolism, it is not surprising that in the early stages of CKD there is an imbalance of mineral metabolism. Prevention and treatment of an imbalance of mineral metabolism and bone disease in CKD are one of the major professional challenges.
