Abstract:

Rashes are very common in children, usually benign and transient, though some types of rash can also be life-threatening. The differential diagnosis of rash is often complicated because many different diseases and conditions can cause similar rashes, just as one disease can lead to different rashes. According to the type of efflorescences that dominate the rash, we distinguish between maculopapular, erythematous, petechial/purple and vesiculobullous rashes. Detailed anamnesis, examination of the skin and all visible mucous membranes, physical status and, if necessary, the type of rash and laboratory evaluation are important in the approach to a child with a rash. At the very beginning, it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms that may be a sign of life-threatening rash. Warning signs and symptoms of rash include generalized rash, petechial/purple and/or vesiculobullous changes, mucose membranes involved, fever, generally feeling bad, with painful skin changes. The treatment of rash is complex and focused on the cause of the rash.
