Abstract:
The difference between the sexes manifested in the cardio-reno-vascular system is the result of the difference in gene expression due to sex chromosomes, modified by the differences in sex hormones. These differences result in different prevalence and manifestations of diseases – such as chronic kidney disease, numerous immune diseases, association with autonomic regulation, elevated arterial blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular remodeling. Gender differences may additionally stem from environmental factors, lifestyle and diet, as part of epigenetic remodeling.
