Abstract:

Gastroenterology is a large branch of internal medicine that covers the diseases of the digestive tract. Due to the numerous potential pathologies, it is important to understand the need for timely endoscopic treatment, as well as the need for monitoring some diagnosed entities. Contemporary information technology offers many advantages contrary to earlier medical experiences, which is especially evident in the field of endoscopy. In addition to the better quality of endoscopic devices, there is an increase in the number of possible endoscopic procedures. It is important to know the current guidelines from the domain of endoscopy in order to conduct the procedures in accordance with the needs of the patient, instead of the adapted medical trends. In doing so, it is necessary to balance the needs of family physicians with the needs and capabilities of gastroenterologists, for the purpose of raising the qualiy of medical (endoscopic) care.
