Guidelines for analgesia and anaesthesia in pregnancy

Abstract:

Pregnancy is a state characterised by many physiological and anatomical changes in the woman’s body, including the presence of at least one other living being. Analgesia and anaesthesia in pregnancy require a skilled, experienced anaesthesiologist to perform procedures or to monitor a junior, less experienced anaesthesiologist. Guidelines for anaesthesia and analgesia in pregnancy used at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics ensure a clear and detailed algorithm. The guidelines help in managing possible complications that may occur related to anaesthesia and analgesia in pregnancy and increase the safety of the mother and child. Also, the guidelines ensure an adequate cooperation between an obstetrician and anaesthesiologist.
