Stroke: recent findings

Abstract:

The management of patients with stroke has changed significantly in recent years due to novel research findings in the fields of genetics, diagnosis, treatment, primary and secondary prevention of stroke and vascular dementia. Stroke is an urgent medical condition requiring urgent transport and treatment of the patient in an adequately equipped hospital setting. Equally urgent treatment is needed in patients with transient ischemic attacks (TIA) in order to prevent stroke.
