Towards global elimination of hepatitis C by 2030 – how to achieve the goal in Croatia
Croatia has a developed system of epidemiological surveillance and clinical care for patients with viral hepatitis, with the availability of modern diagnostics and therapy. By adopting and implementing the strategic goals from national viral hepatitis strategy, Croatia as a small country has a reasonable chance to achieve the goals of the World Health Organization for the elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030. The most important activities in the implementation of the strategy are education of the general population and health professionals in recognizing the risk factors for the transmission of infection, as well as the implementation of a program to reduce the prevalence of hepatitis C in people who inject drugs.
