International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health and the beginnings of its implementation in Croatia

Abstract:

The World Health Organization has published a new classification titled “International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)“, which provides a basis for assessing physical functioning of an individual. There are also recommendations for complementary use of ICF with International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10). This complementary use provides a more complete picture of the health status of people and their ability to participate in everyday life. The Croatian translation of the ICF was prepared by the experts of the Croatian Institute for Public Health and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in the cooperation with the representatives of persons with disabilities. was published, it has been implemented in improving both expert evaluation of persons with disabilities and physical therapy.
