Author: Sandra Marinović Kulišić, Jasna Lipozenčić, Suzana Tunuković
Abstract:
A wound is a localized damage to the tissue caused by external factors and resulting in interrupted continuity or defect of the skin. The chronic wound can develop from an acute wound due to impaired healing or inadequate primary treatment. The treatment of the chronic wound is a demanding process requiring a wide range of general measures, compression therapy, local and/or systemic therapy and surgical treatment. The chronic wound is an immense problem for the patient, as it significantly decreases the quality of life, and a serious burden for the whole health care system
