Complications of corrective procedures
Recently there has been an increase in the number of corrective treatments done, at both a national and global level. Today, injection treatments containing botulinum toxin and fillers are the most common procedures done for treating the signs of photoaging. Chemical, mechanical and laser resurfacing methods are also common. Generally these procedures, along with their proven effectiveness, are considered to be safe with rare occurences of complications. Most of the complications are expected, mild and transitory, while more severe complications are very rare. It is of utmost importance that the treatments are performed by a skilled professional, with careful choice of patients and excellent preoperative and postoperative care, in order to reduce the risks of complications to a minimum.
