The importance of oxygen in chronic wound therapy
Author: Robert Roher
Abstract:
In 2017, the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) working group adopted a document on the importance of oxygen in healing chronic wounds, and evaluated the effectiveness of available hypoxia treatment methods. The document links clinical trials and the applicability of the method in practice, in line with the Health Technology Assessment (HTA). The method of active hemoglobin improving oxygen supply to chronic wounds by increasing the diffusion of oxygen into the wound base which accelerates rapid healing (Granulox) has achieved a 1B level of evidence, with a commentary on clear positive benefit risk value.
