Abstract:
Contact lens induced acute red eye syndrome (CLARE) and microbial keratitis are severe forms of eye inflammation caused by wearing contact lenses. Although corneal hypoxia, tear film dysfunction (dry eye) and mechanical irritation, which were discussed in the last issue of Medix, can cause serious health consequences, in red-eye syndrome and microbial keratitis it is crucial to prevent inflammation, which begins with proper maintenance of contact lenses.
Key words:
contact lens acute red eye (CLARE); microbial keratitis; soft contact lens
