Contemporary corrective procedures in dermatology
Corrective dermatology is a newer branch of dermatology, rapidly developing over the past few decades. The growing trend to maintain youthfulness and prevent premature aging of the skin, along with the development of technology, results in an increase in the number of corrective procedures that achieve tangible results quickly, with a short recovery time and very low risk of complications and side effects. Although most of the therapists do not follow the scientific evidence of procedures for maintaining beauty and health, a universal concept exists for the implementation of corrective treatments. Depending on the indication, combinations of various corrective procedures are most commonly used nowadays. One should emphasize the great responsibility of dermatovenerologists, who should be aware of the importance of having an individual approach towards each patient, proper estimates of the types of changes to the skin, the real possibilities of correction, as well as realistic expectations and patient compliance. However, demanding corrective actions have been increasingly conducted in non-health institutions and performed by an incompetent staff.
