Platelet-rich plasma use in dermatovenereology
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an area that is developing among clinicians and scientists in the filed of bioregeneration in medicine including dermatology. The major indications in dermatology include acne scars, alopecia and the most commonly rejuvenation. Skin aging clinically manifests through wrinkles, discoloration of the skin, loss of volume and fatty tissue as a result of epidermal and dermal atrophy, degradation of collagen and reduced number of fibroblasts. Autologous PRP with growth factors and protein stimulate bioregeneration, however, further research is needed, in larger and well-designed studies, to better understand the mechanisms, and for development of standardized protocols.
