Abstract:

In children and youth, bone fractures of the elbow are common bone injuries, coming in second at frequency of occurence, with the most frequent being the fracture of the forearm. Fractures in the elbow occur at a frequency of 8-12.7% of all fractures of the long bones in children. These fractures include fractures of the distal humerus, and fractures of the proximal part of the forearm bones. The elbow joint is complex as the three bones make up the three joints. All fractures of the elbow in children must be approached very responsibly due to the possibility of damaging the cartilage epiphyseal zone of the bones and subsequent disturbances in the growth of bones. Permanent complications are manifested in the form of functional and cosmetic disorders which later require surgical-physiatric treatment.
