Fist injuries in children
Fist injuries are common in children because the fist is a tool with which a child explores the environment and becomes familiar with the space around, consequently exposing it to the actions of other forces and possible injuries. Evolutionary development changes the function and appearance of the fist from gross motor skills, which were generally needed in previous generations, to the development of precise movements which are present in todays’ children who operate with technological tools on a daily basis. Fist injuries are a potential source of disability and reduce movements which may adversely affect the further quality of life of the child, which is why this type of injury should be given special attention.
