Abstract:
Infertility is one of the biggest challenges couples face and is estimated to affect 8 to 12 % of couples worldwide. The male factor contributes to the problem of infertility in 50% of couples, and idiopathic infertility is present in about one third of infertile men. Given the many causes of infertility, the care of a male with fertility problems begins with a comprehensive diagnostic work-up where one of the goals is to identify potentially treatable causes of infertility and to select the optimal treatment. In men with an idiopathic form of infertility, individualized empirical hormonal or non-hormonal treatments as well as medically assisted reproductive techniques are available.
