The role of dermatosurgery in corrective medicine

Author: Mirna Šitum, Tomislav Duvančić
Abstract:

The specialty of surgical corrective procedures is their invasiveness and complexity of preoperative and postoperative procedures. Mechanical dermabrasion is used to remove the superficial layers of the skin, while verrucous changes can be removed by excohleation. The incision allows for the removal of pus or atheroma, while simple excisions allow for histopathological diagnosis and possible treatment of skin lesions. In Croatia, the use of local flaps to cover tissue defects is common in dermatosurgery. Other corrective methods include electrosurgery, cryosurgery, intralesional application of corticosteroids, collagen implantation, hair transplantation and phlebology surgery. The main advantage of surgical corrective procedures is their simultaneous therapeutic effect.
