Pain treatment – deontology and medical ethics
The duties (deontology) of doctors are to respect the norms and standards of the Ministry of Health and to respect the professional work protocols when treating pain. Doctors who treat pain in institutes and clinics for pain management must have the appropriate education and license for the procedures they perform. The consent form for treatment/refusal of treatment is prescribed by the Minister of Health (National Gazette, 10/2008), making it mandatory to use. Not every single institution/outpatient clinic may have its own consent form. The treatment notification and the patient's consent (signature) must be on one form so that there is no doubt what the patient has consented. Records of work in institutes/outpatient clinics must be kept,, regarding non-invasive and invasive procedures, pharmacotherapy, side effects and treatment results.
