Abstract:

Physical abuse of a child is a serious violation of the child’s psychophysical wellbeing, but also a serious social problem that is occasionally represented to doctors of various specialties. It is therefore important that the physical abuse is timely detected, that a child is offered adequate medical care, and that the case is reported to the authorities. Physical abuse of a child occurs most often in the primary family, but also in institutions and organizations that deal with children. After the diagnosis and treatment of physical injuries, further actions are focused on the psychotherapeutic treatment of the child, but also of the members of the community in which the abuse occurred.
