Abstract:
Eagle syndrome, or styloid process syndrome, is a disease of unknown etiology which occurs due to the extension of the styloid process or calcification of the stylohyoid ligament. Due to the pressure from the styloid process on the surrounding structures, pain is the most important symptom. It is easily diagnosed by X-ray or CT images, which show the elongated styloid process.
Key words:
Eagle syndrome; neck pain; ossification; stylohyoid ligament; styloid process
