Doppler ultrasonography of peripheral arteries in emergency indications
Author: Ana Marija Alduk, Ivan Gornik
Abstract:
Ultrasonography of the peripheral arteries in emergency conditions has an important role in assessment of arterial pathology when acute ischaemia is suspected. In the era of the advanced vascular imaging techniques (CT, MRI, angiography), the ultrasound should be used only as the initial test to confirm the pathology and trigger the need for further imaging. The ultrasound can also remove the need for further imaging and guide the diagnostic process in another direction, which is just as important.
