Alternative approach to implantoprosthetic therapy in dentistry
Advances in dental practice, especially in the field of implantology and implantoprosthetics, have brought solutions to dental problems by offering therapeutic options that were not possible until recently. However, practitioners – being impressed by new therapeutic promises – often disregard the existing clinical experience and knowledge and fall for advertising claims without giving it much thought, all in an attempt to provide quick services that would meet patient expectations and desires. What should be kept in mind is that there is a “classical” prosthodontic management alternative to every implantoprosthetic therapy. Often these alternatives have evidence-based advantages, even in comparison with advertised information. In this article, we present two similar cases solved by different approaches. One case involved dental implant solution, whereas the other was solved by prosthodontic therapy only.
