Vlaknima ojačane kompozitne nadogradnjeFiber reinforced composite post and cores

Vlaknima ojačani kompoziti (VOK) materijali su razvijeni s ciljem stvaranja novih materijala poboljšanih mehaničkih svojstava. Upotrebljavaju se i u izradi nadogradnji s ciljem prevladavanja nedostataka koji se javljaju pri uporabi metalnih lijevanih nadogradnji. Vlaknima ojačane kompozitne nadogradnje posjeduju modul elastičnosti sličan onom dentina, estetske su (osim ugljičnih i djelomično aramidskih), ne korodiraju, moguća je izrada tijekom jednog posjeta, a u slučaju loma nadogradnje ili potrebe revizije endodontskog punjenja korijenskoga kanala uklanjanje je jednostavno. Dosadašnji rezultati laboratorijski provedenih istraživanja su proturječni, a kliničkih studija je malo i još su kratkotrajne. Iako su VOK nadogradnja ocijenjene zadovoljavajućim, u praksi valja biti oprezan sa širom kliničkom uporabom. Tek će kontrolirane dugotrajnije kliničke studije dati konačnu ocjenu kvalitete vlaknima ojačanih nadogradnji te opravdati (ili ne) njihovu širu kliničku primjenu

Fiber reinforced composites (FRC) are developed with the aim of producing new materials with improved mechanical properties. They are used in production of posts and cores with the purpose of overcoming difficulties that are present when cast posts and cores are used. Fiber reinforced composite posts and cores have the elasticity module similar to that of dentine, they are aesthetic (with the exception of carbon and partially aramide fibers), they do not corrode, production of posts and cores is possible in single visit, in the case of post fracture or need for revision of endodontic sealing of the root canal their removal is simple. Till now published results and findings obtained by laboratory and clinical investigations of mechanical properties of fiber reinforced posts and cores are presented. Up to date results of laboratory performed investigations are contradictory and clinical studies are rare and short termed. Although these studies evaluated fiber reinforced posts and cores as satisfactory, it should be still careful with their wider clinical use. Controlled long termed clinical studies will give the final evaluation of fiber reinforced composite posts and cores quality, and justify (or not) their wider clinical use.
