Due to the availability of health care services, continuity of population monitoring and a specific model of care, family physicians have the opportunity to significantly influence the management of cardiovascular risks by their expert approach, based on the best evidence. Measuring the quality of the provided care is becoming increasingly important primarily because of health outcomes, but also as a measure of spending money in healthcare. The use of continuous measurement of arterial pressure in primary care is the most appropriate tool in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension. Numerous studies confirm that continuous measurement of arterial pressure is the most significant predictor of future cardiovascular events. It allows the identification of patients with „white coat syndrome“ and the patients with masked hypertension. It may give an insight into the prognosis of the disease. It helps detect hypotensive crisis in patients on antihypertensive therapy, provides an assessment of the effect of antihypertensive drugs and more accurate medical intervention.
