Abstract:

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease, most common among children and adolescents. In most cases, the itch is the main and most unpleasant symptom of atopic dermatitis, along with a significant negative influence on the quality of the patient's life. The etiopathogenesis of atopic dermatitis is complex and it includes a disruption of the epidermal barrier, the immune response, changes in the skin microbiome and other. The psychological factors have a significant influence on the course of atopic dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis itself increases patients' stress and anxiety levels. This is why in recent years psychological techniques, such as mindfulness, have been included in atopic dermatitis treatment. Mindfulness helps the atopic dermatitis patients to better confront the disease and reduce its impact on their quality of life.
